Skirting 4 U are here to help you transform any space with the addition of some high-quality Dado and Picture Rails. There are so many designs to choose from in the dado rail and picture rail collections. We offer a wide variety of mouldings to cover any type of aesthetic you have in mind, all of which are made from MDF for a strong and durable construction.

A Dado rail has been a popular addition to homes for centuries, mainly for aesthetic purposes but also to protect the wall against bumps from moving furniture for example. We have traditional dado rails such as Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian mouldings to give your home a classical feel.

A picture rail is a traditional interior design feature that is usually associated with period properties with elevated ceilings. Picture rail moulding is often placed around 12-20” below the ceiling. Although picture rails were originally designed to hang pictures, they are now more fashion-over-function and are mainly chosen just for aesthetic purposes, for example, a Minnie Rose picture rail adds a much-desired vintage feel to any space.

What is The Ideal Dado Rail Height?

The height of your dado rail should be in line with the height of your ceiling, whether that’s the living room or bedroom.

Rooms with higher ceilings will require the rail to be placed higher up the wall. For example, if you had a twelve-foot ceiling, you would divide the measurement of the entire wall by three, meaning you would place your dado rail four feet from the floor.
