We’re proud to have an incredible Homes Community full of creators who are passionate about sharing the reality of renovating and how they have transformed their homes.
Each quarter, we’re spotlighting a member of our community and will be sharing their top tips for homeowners. Whether you’ve just started your renovation or are looking for inspiration, you don’t want to miss this!
If you’re on a mission to restore your period home, looking at DA Renovations’ progress is the motivation you need!
They are taking on the difficult, yet rewarding, challenge of transforming a “once outdated and unliveable” mid-century property into their dream first home.
We asked them to share the lowdown on their journey so far, along with some handy tips for renovators in a similar position:
How far along are you in your transformation journey, and what is your overall vision?
“We’ve carried out a complete rewire, stripped the walls back to bare bones, knocked down walls and built new ones, restored nearly century-old floorboards, replaced all lead piping, and re-plastered every room before beginning decoration.
Our vision is for a home that feels moody, comfortable, and cosy - a blend of antique charm and vintage elegance, inspired by Nancy Meyers’ timeless interiors.
The result will be a space that oozes classical style while feeling warm, lived-in, and effortlessly inviting.”
How have you made design decisions, and where do you look for inspiration?
“Our design decisions have come entirely from our own clear vision - we’ve never been unsure about what we want.
Every single item in our home has been considered a thousand times over; there isn’t a detail that hasn’t been meticulously researched, imagined and envisioned in the space. Every choice is purposeful and meaningful to us, while also respecting the proportions and character of the rooms we have.
Of course, like most renovators, we’ve turned to Pinterest for inspiration - it’s the ultimate mood board for dream homes... & no, we’re not earning commission for saying that… though perhaps we should be!”
Where has Skirting 4 U fit into your renovation?
“We’ve completed the entire ground floor of our home with the stunning Skirting 4 U Torus 2 skirting boards and they are, without question, the most beautiful choice we could have made.
With their traditional accents and timeless profile, they perfectly complement our classic interior vision.
Torus 2 was one of the very first skirting board styles we considered. The moment we envisioned this skirting board against our ‘mental vision board’ for the home, we knew it was the one. It felt as though it had been designed specifically for our space.
We’re now eagerly planning to finish the look with the matching Torus 2 architraves, and we absolutely cannot wait to see the complete transformation come together.”

Can you share your honest feedback on the quality and service provided by Skirting 4 U?
“Flawless. From start to finish, the experience has been exceptional. A special mention goes to Celbe, the Social Media Manager, who has looked after us throughout the entire collaboration. Celbe has been nothing but helpful, supportive and an absolute pleasure to work with.
Every detail was handled with care and deliveries were always timely. The service from every aspect of the social media team - again, a huge shout-out to Celbe has been truly unbeatable.”
Why we love working with creators like DA Renovations
Not only are DA Renovations working extremely hard to create their dream home, they’re also inspiring others to do the same. Plus, they share fantastic tips for renovators, such as:
“Preparation is key; skip corners to finish faster and you’ll pay for it later.
Always get a survey, keep money aside for hidden costs and be honest about your progress - renovations are not for the faint-hearted.
Trust your gut, never compromise and remember that hard work pays off.
Outsource advice when it’s not your speciality, don’t be afraid to start over, and invest in a good pair of overalls because it's a messy process.”
If you’re in the process of a renovation that feels like one obstacle after another, listen to their advice: “slow and steady really does win the race.”
