Mid-Century Modern Dining Room Makeover
Throughout February we have been exploring Mid Century Modern interiors and we have created our very own retro style dining room. Each month we like to create different room makeovers to really understand a popular interior style in further detail. Should you be thinking of ways to switch up your décor you might find our interior content a helpful source of inspiration should we do a theme you love.
For those of you that are interested in Mid Century Modern design we thought we would give you a rundown on some of the accessories we purchased for our room makeover and where we got them from should you be looking for some similar décor pieces.
Mid Century Modern Interior Shopping List
Retro Dining Chairs - £39.99 – Amazon
Perfect if you are wanting to add some pops of colour to your space to contrast against the use of dark wood furniture.
Ochre Desk Lamp - £22.00 – Dunelm
This retro style lamp can work in any room and adds a lovely bit of vibrancy to any room.
Mustard Yellow Geometric Curtains - £19.99 – B&M Bargains
Geometric, bold patterns feature throughout Mid-Century Modern Interiors and curtains are a great way to introduce patterns and textures to your room.
Dark Wood Sideboard - £20 – Local Charity Shop
When shopping for vintage furniture, we found some great bargains in local charity shops. Online teak sideboards were a few hundred pound so it is definitely worth checking out any charity shops local to you to see if you can find a cheaper alternative like we did.
Gypsophila Bundle - £7.49 – Seasonal Strands (Etsy)
A key feature of this interior style is the addition of greenery and plants. We love this Gypsophila Bundle that we purchased from an Etsy business called Seasonal Strands, perfect for the finishing touches within your home.
Vintage Glassware – Less Than £10 – Charity Shop
We purchased most of our glassware and accessories from a charity shop and most of the pieces cost a couple of pound each, which was much cheaper than similar styles we saw on our visit to H&M Home.
Antique Clear Glass Bowls – £4 – B&M Bargains
We also found a set of antique bowls which are perfect to add those little extra touches that go with the décor as well as having a practical purpose. They were only £4 for a set which we thought was fairly reasonable.
Yorkshire Rose Wall Paint - £39.95 – Frenchic Furniture Paint
We wanted to keep the walls neutral within our room with the vibrancy coming from the furniture and accessories. We painted 2/3 of the walls in a chalk wall paint from Frenchic and we loved the final look.
Those are just a few of the key pieces we purchased for the room and we would recommend checking out your local charity shops to help you create a similar look. On average we spent around £340 on our dining room makeover, including furniture, paint, flooring and accessories.
