MDF Dado Rails

At Skirting 4 U we have a bespoke range of both MDF dado rails and picture rails available to suit all manner of interior designs. Our dado rails are available both primed and unprimed; simply select your preference whilst ordering. You can also order a free sample, allowing you to see the product in the flesh before making a purchase.

A dado rail is a unique interior design feature that is somewhat similar to picture rails, but sit much lower down the wall. Traditionally they are part of the dado, or lower section of a wall, and are fixed to the perimeter of a room. They achieve a classical look when installed and tend to be found more often in older period properties.

Traditionally, a dado rail was used as a way to protect walls from furniture. Originally, dado rails were known as chair rails, as they were installed on the wall at the height of the top of a chair, so that the furniture wouldn’t damage the plaster, paintwork or wallpaper. However, much like picture rails, dado rails are more of a design feature than a functional moulding.
