Skirting Board Covers FAQ

What are skirting board covers?

Also known as “skirting over skirting”, our MDF skirting board covers look just like regular skirting boards. They are favoured for their ease of installation, as they can be applied directly over existing skirting without the need for removal.

What are the benefits of skirting covers?

Skirting board covers provide a simple and cost-effective way to upgrade your interior without the hassle or mess of removing existing skirting. They eliminate the risk of damaging walls, which can lead to costly repairs, and save time by avoiding complex removal and disposal processes. Additionally, skirting covers help conceal visible cables, creating a cleaner, more polished appearance.

How tall are skirting board covers?

The height of a skirting cover depends on its design. The recess for fitting can only be cut into the flat section, not the profiled part. It’s important to leave about 5mm of clearance between the top of your existing skirting board and the cover’s profile. To calculate the total height, add your existing skirting board height, 5mm clearance, and the cover’s design height. Alternatively, you can use the drop-down menus on each product page, which automatically provide the overall height based on your existing skirting board.

How do you attach skirting board covers?

Skirting covers are commonly fitted into place using a grab adhesive. Apply the adhesive to the back of the cover, both along the top section which will attach to the wall, and the recessed section which will sit in front of your existing skirting board. This fixes the skirting board in place along the wall, as well as bonding it to the face of your existing skirting board to make it secure. You can also follow up with a nail gun to secure the cover in place by nailing at regular intervals along the board, similar to how you would fit a regular skirting board.
